Is the windcheater actually resistant to cold wind? Or is it just for looks?

The jacket is warm , but not water proof , it can keep you dry in a shower but when in heavy rain you will find you have wet patches on your back , shoulders and arms. Also the zips tend to snap easily and the material rips easily too.
