When I found out that Meebo was accessible on the RMIT network yesterday, I immediately logged in to play around again. It’s been a while since I went on Meebo because I just couldn’t access it (I could at home, but at home the connection is so slow that it’s not even worth using).

So I log in and BAM, I’m presented with a host of new goodies to play with. It certainly looked like Meebo had been working hard on improving the service and speed. One of my favorite things about it is the video chat. It works flawlessly!

Sure, video chat and conferencing have been around for some time now, but it always required that the same software be used on both ends of the connection. This was always cumbersome because it often meant that one of you had to download special software, install it, etc. Basically, it made you NOT want to video chat anymore.

And now, Meebo has literally done away with all that crap and literally made video conferencing as simple as clicking a button. There is virtually no setup required.

Honestly, it can’t get any easier than this. If you and the person you’re talking to have a mic and webcam, then you’re pretty much good to go. I’ve already tried it with Corey and Yina (shown above) and it worked like a charm.

I’m so psyched. This is the future! I’m finally in it!
