Santogold - Santogold (self-titled debut)

I first heard about Santogold a couple of months back when she was described to me as being a mix between “MIA and old-school punk rock”. After listening to this album countless times, I can see where the comparisons comes in, but at the same time, I also consider Santogold’s music to be in a league all by itself. I’ve personally never heard anything quite like it and I love that it’s a bit funky and weird.

Santogold makes use of some interesting sounds in her music and I think that’s why I love this CD so much.

I’d recommend listening to “L.E.S. Artistes”, “Creator”, “Shove It”, and “I’m A Lady”.
