take-a-seat

LikeCool posted this video of a concept library chair by Dutch designer Jelte van Geest called Take A Seat.

The concept makes use of RFID library cards to control the movements of the chair. When a library patron’s card is swiped in front of the seat, the seat follows the patron wherever he/she may go in the library. I think it’s a pretty great idea.

Check out the video below of the chair in action.

Do you reckon he actually made that, or is is a radio control car underneath it all? (Does RFID even have the range?) The shot where about 12 chairs move in formation looks computer-generated, too.

yeah, the 12 chairs are probably CG (i noticed that too). I’m not sure if he actually made one since its just a concept. but i think it’d be a great device to invest some time into. :)
