The “great Iowa flood of 2008” looks to be receding finally after pretty much destroying Cedar Rapids for the past couple of days. Over the past week, I’ve seen some videos of citizens literally watching helplessly as their livelihood was swept away by rising flood waters. It’s incredibly sad to watch.

Check out this video of Cedar River overflowing into downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It just doesn’t seem to stop.

For whatever it’s worth, the flooding in Iowa is being compared by the media to the disaster in Katrina a couple of years back. That’s not good. Not good at all.

UPDATE: Uh oh. More rain expected for the state of Iowa.
