Lower Manhattan circa 1929

This forum post featuring lots of old and vintage photos of New York City (more here too) is being passed around the internet like mad.
These photos make me want to come back home so that I can roam around the city aimlessly capturing all of the moments that pass before me. Hopefully, in a few years, somebody will look at my photos and say, “This is what New York City used to look like.”
Some people hate it when a familiar part of the city changes, but I find that it’s quite exciting to see one part of something you know turn into something completely different in a matter of months. Check out the photos and see if you recognize anything familiar from the past.
If you’re looking to kill some time and some bandwidth, definitely check out the rest of the forum posts at the Wired New York forum.
