Wal-Mart is now Walmart; new logo introduced

Just over a week ago, Walmart unveiled their new logo to the public. The new logo does away with the star that served as a sort of hyphen between “Wal” and “Mart” and instead introduces a new yellow starburst icon at the end of the store name.
Along with the new starbusrt, the most significant change is the alteration of the name in the logo from two words to one word. For years, Walmart has been doing business as “Walmart” and this new change makes sense for the company that has stuck with its previous logo for 16 years.
Walmart has posted a logo timeline that you can take a look at. If you’re still seeing the old “Wal-Mart” logo, that’s because the new logo won’t be fully implemented until this Fall (in US stores).
Why is this important? I guess it’s not really, but since Walmart is the world’s largest corporation, you’re bound to run into this at some point in the future. Good to know, yeah?
