Thank goodness for StumbleUpon, because if it didn’t exist, I wouldn’t have seen these frightening photos of wolf spiders with baby spiders on their back!

Seriously, this creeps me out. I have non-stop goosebumps as I write this post.

TWO MORE PHOTOS INSIDE.

I dealt with this situation last night. I hit the momma with a shoe before I realized she was covered with her babies and man you would have never guessed that baby spiders could run so fast. I liked to never killed all the little b_stards. Thank goodness for home defense spray.

I just saw a wolf spider outside my back door last night. True, I thought it was one huge spider but then we noticed there were baby spiders composing the back of the creature. I thought it was awsome to see such a sight. Creation is so diverse!

OMG!!!! Last year my boyfriend on I had the same issue with one in our boxers’ food dish outside; ans then last night we found one in our twin daughters’ bedroom. When our son killed it they ran everywhere. He came out scraming it had babies on it and now we are invaded by it ….. keep in mind that he is six years old too and takes everything really far….. This is just so gross!!!!!!!!!

Saw this the other night at a campground in SLO Co. Yes, creation is awesome and diverse. Those of you who want to kill spiders…try and take a moment to realize that this is the only place in the Universe that we know of where even the lowliest of bacteria exist and the diversity of life on Earth is mind boggling. Appreciate…enjoy. We are blessed

I killed a spider about 30 min ago and these babies went scattering everywhere I killed them too, I have a 4 month old and a new puppy. As I was coming in one darted in the house and ran under the couch!! Do Brown Recluse spider carry the young on their backs aswell? I am extremely paranoid about my babies getting bit and would hate to see them go through that. Is there anything I can do to get rid of them, I have heard that having someone come spray my house may do more damage…any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    I’m about to scream here.
Not from the spider pictures, but from the comments.

What’s pictured above is probably one of the better depictions of motherhood in the animal kingdom. These spider moms, even though they are arachnids with no social structure, still tend for their young in this minute way. I find it a damn miracle that these arthropods even give two sh*ts about their young.

And what do people do? Cry about them being “creepy spiders”.
    Damn right I’m mad.
Shame on you people for not understanding the true beauty of an arthropod caring for young. Most arthropods just leave their young to fend for themselves from day one.

  17. Mama T says:

Arachnophobia may be real, but compassion for all creatures and tolerance of things that are different than us is essential for our world to continue surviving. Good luck to us if we all continue to smash, kill, and hate upon non-disruptive and non-threatening creatures.
