MTA crews digging a tunnel 16 stories below ground

Did you know that 16 stories below the streets of Manhattan, there are crews from the New York City MTA Capital Construction division digging what will soon be a tunnel that connects the LIRR to Grand Central Station?

Crews operate tunnel boring machines (TBM) that can dig through the ground at about 60 feet per day.

The new tunnel is on schedule to be completed by 2015.
