The August 25, 2008 issue of Sports Illustrated celebrates Michael Phelps’ 8 gold medals at the Olympics by placing him on the cover of their magazine. Phelps, of course, is donning all 8 of his medals around his neck. The problem with this though, is that the medals make him look like he’s wearing some sort of half-dress, and my God, I really don’t want to see or think about Michael Phelps wearing a dress, let alone a half-one.
Second, as pointed out by my sister, is that Phelps’ photo on the cover is cut off at his waist, effectively making him look like he’s standing in the nude…with 8 gold medals around his neck.
All of this in addition to the fact that the ENTIRE COVER is chock-full of red. Too much red. Plain red background, red medal necklaces, red Sports Illustrated logo…it’s just too red.

totally agree!
