Summer Streets in New York City

It was a beautiful day this past Saturday, and Joyce, Yelena, and I spent a part of it biking around New York City and parts of Brooklyn. We were part of thousands of people in NYC who enjoyed the last Summer Streets for this year. I’d say it was pretty successful and definitely pretty awesome to be able to bike down an entire avenue in NYC without having to worry about cars or other things in your way. It really felt like one big city park! Very exciting and fun!

Here’s Joyce and Yelena on their bikes in Brooklyn Bridge Park
I also got to see, for the very first time in person, the silly man-made waterfall art project by Olafur Eliasson. It was…well, just as stupid as I had imagined it to be. It didn’t look beautiful nor did it look cool. It looked like any industrial piece of crap sticking out of nowhere.

Here’s one of the waterfalls sitting on Manhattan.

And this one is close-up of the one on the Brooklyn side, under the bridge.
I’m sad that Summer Streets is all over. I want it to last longer!!! Joyce and Yelena, we must do this again soon!
