US Civil Defense film: Duck and cover

This is an official civil defense film from the United States government shown at schools to show kids how to properly “duck and cover“. It’s funny to me that people used to think that the duck and cover method would save your life from an ATOMIC BOMB attack. Yeah, good luck with that.

I know that in a few decades, future generations will look at our time now and wonder why we did such stupid things like give up our toothpaste at airports just for the sake of feeling safe (but not actually being any safer). That will be something to laugh about.

Anyway, there’s more information about the video over at Wikipedia.

I remember doing bomb or maybe it was shelter drills in elementary school where I think everyone would go out in the hallways.
