The MTA in New York City unveiled some new hybrid-electric buses in New York yesterday as part of a larger roll-out of a fleet of efficient mass transit vehicles.

The MTA has ordered 850 of these new Orion VII new generation hybrid-electric buses and the first 125 will replace aging buses in Staten Island. The rest of them will trickle into the rest of the MTA bus system by 2010.
