Eric Moussambani: The worst swimmer at the 2000 Olympics

During heat 1 of the 100-meter freestyle at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, Eric Moussambani of Equatorial Guinea gained some bit of fame when he swam the entire heat by himself when his 2 other opponents were eliminated due to false starts.

Eric comes from a country with no Olympic-sized swimming pool. Although his time was disappointing for the sport (athletes in the 200-meter race can swim it faster than he swam the 100-meter), Eric managed to swim the entire race in 1 minute and 52.72 seconds which earned him a personal best and the quickest Equatorial Guinea time ever.
