Fast Dial: easy access to your 9 favorite sites

There’s no doubt that the Google Chrome browser is pretty neat. It’s quick, simple, and elegant, but the one major drawback (at the moment) is that it’s only out for Windows systems. In addition to that fact, Chrome is simply not as polished nor as supported as Firefox, which makes Firefox still my browser of choice.

However, there are some things in Chrome that I’d love to see in Firefox, notably the new tab window that displays a list of websites that you frequent most often. I’ve found the new tab feature really useful in Chrome and now there’s a way to emulate the same look and feel in Firefox!

There’s an add-on for Firefox called Fast Dial that allows you to customize a list of websites that you frequent and then displays this list in grid format every time you open a new tab. The major difference in Fast Dial is that the add-on is not intuitive, meaning that it won’t dynamically change the list of webpages based on the number of times you visit each page. To change the list, you’ll have to edit the list yourself.

But still, Fast Dial is a great time-saver for pages that I know I always open everytime I open Firefox. No more typing URL or keyword into the address bar. I just click and I’m there!

they do have that feature on firefox.. but it’s called “most visited”.. did you update to the latest firefox? cuz it’s on that version.. or least should be.. unless it was an addition to a add-on that i downloaded

oh yeah, but its a drop down list, so that takes a couple of more clicks. maybe one second more at most.

It also doesn’t refresh every time it’s loaded, so I don’t really get the point of its usefulness. Or am I doing something wrong?
