You may be thinking, wait a second, Keane released another album after Under The Iron Sea? The answer to that is no (at least not yet, they have an album in the works that’ll be released soon). So where does this CD, Little Broken Words, come from and why does it have Keane’s name attached to it?
It turns out that this amazing CD is in fact Keane but it wasn’t officially released by the band. Instead, the CD was released by a fan who somehow got access to these high-quality recordings. The songs are mostly said to be B-sides, covers, and old songs and the music is reminiscent of their first CD (lots of keyboard-driven and synthesized melodies).
I personally didn’t like Under The Iron Sea too much and coming across this album really put my interest back in the band, especially now that their next album, Perfect Symmetry, is so close to being released (out October 13th). You can listen to their new single off the new album on their Myspace.
Anyway, this album compilation deserves to be shared. It’s so wonderful to hear the Keane sound again that I loved so much when I first discovered them. And it’s definitely great to hear their renditions of some very famous covers (like “What A Wonderful World”).
