Farewell to the classic Canon digital ELPH styling

It’s an early farewell, I guess, but it’s definitely happening. It looks like Canon is phasing out their purely rectangle-shaped camera bodies for more curvaceous models, essentially killing the core design of the original Canon digital ELPH — straight lines and sharp corners.
Early this morning, Canon released images and specs of their two new digital ELPHs, the SD990 IS and the SD880 IS. While these are no doubt very good cameras, my heart sank a bit when I saw that curve on the side where most people would hold it. I just don’t like it. Sure, the cameras are still great looking, but that curve really does me in.
At the moment, the only digital ELPHs left that have the classic ELPH styling are the SD790 IS (my camera), the SD770 IS, the SD110 IS, the SD750 (sorta), and the SD1000. At least 2 of those models are due for an update and I’m betting that Canon will turn them into curvy messes.
