Aftermath by Joel Meyerowitz

Immediately following the terrorist attacks in New York City on 9/11, photographer Joel Meyerowitz was given unprecedented access into the area known as Ground Zero to document and photograph the devastation that had recently taken place.
His photographs have become the only exiting record of the aftermath of the attacks and the months that followed. He managed to get sole access to the area for a period of 9 months and subsequently shot the images seen in this book.
I’ve quickly looked through the book several times since its release in 2006, but I’ve never had the time to actually sit down and process the images in full. I really want to buy the book so that I can do this, but also so that I can have it in my collection of favorite photo books that I’m beginning to accumulate on my bookshelf. While the images are hardly of a subject that I can call a “favorite”, I really do think that this book presents an important visual aspect of those days and months immediately following the attacks that should never be forgotten. And with 350 pages of breathtaking and heartbreaking photos, this book is sure to not let you forget.
The book is currently on sale at Amazon.com for $47.25.
Note: This book should not be confused with a similar book under the same name. I’ve seen both books, and this title by Joel Meyerowitz is by far the more complete and extensive look at the topic.
