Monopoly game board redesigned using Helvetica (and the color white)

This mock redesign of the Monopoly game board by French designer Florent Guerlain is nice and simple. But I feel like it’s too simple and because of it, I’m less interested in wanting to play Monopoly. The game of Monopoly should be a messy game, with paper bills, houses, apartments, and everything strewn all over the place. If I were playing on this Helvetica Monopoly board, I’d go crazy trying to keep the board looking as clean as it does now with nothing on it.

I am frustrated that I can’t find a high-resolution copy so that I can get a better look. It looks interesting, but I couldn’t see this board selling anywhere near as many copies as the standard Monopoly board. It seems bleak.

I’m also not a big fan of the X in the “monopoly” in the middle. I understand that he’s trying to incorporate some of the arbitrarily created symbols into the name, but an X should never stand in for an O.

I’d like to see what he could do with the title deed cards. Those things always seem too cluttered.
