New Information Aesthetics website is hard to read

October 17, 2008 @ 12:01 pm

Information Aesthetics, a blog that I admire and read, just launched their new look and boy is it busy and confusing. I really love the way they have images serving as part of the title of the post (which you then have to click to read the contents), but man, the top 3 posts right now are making it very hard to read. There’s so much text over text surrounded by horizontal lines. It’s hard to follow a particular headline space when the white area goes straight into the featured post image.

But after those first couple of posts, the site looks great!

I think it’s particularly confusing right now because the latest story is about the new design, so there’s a kind of optical feedback. I really like how they emphasize the pictures with each story, but I think it would really help if they put borders around each box to better distinguish them.
