I can’t get over how wonderful this photo above is of an abandoned Prada store in Marfa, TX. It’s taken from the roadtrip that some Supertouch members took with Lance Armstrong through Texas. The roadtrip passed through a town in Texas called Marfa that seems to be an artist’s hidden paradise, with great galleries and public arts all over the place.
I was very curious as to why a big name like Prada would expand to a small town like Marfa, and my suspicions about it being an art installation were confirmed in this New York Times article from 2005. Apparently, the “abandoned” Prada store is a permanent art installation by Berlin artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset. If you want to see more photos of this place, head on over to Flickr where Prada Marfa photos are plenty.
The photos are wonderful and they certainly make me want to visit (they say also that the movie No Country For Old Men was shot there, which makes me want to visit the place even more).

friend from school took a picture for class there!!
i just realized that in the bass-vanderwoodsen residence on gossip girl, there is a giant poster for the prada marfa store.
I saw that poster in GG too, is there somebody that knows how to get one? I want one!!
I’ve been looking for the prada marfa poster on GG too. If anyone has info on where to buy please let me know!

haha, even if you could find the Prada Marfa sign, trust me, you wouldn’t be able to afford it. Not unless you had hundreds of thousands of dollars just lying around…
They do not want a sign, they want a poster, and posters are not expensive.
There have to be some smaller framed reproductions.
I would love one myself.
If anyone comes across one would you please let me know where you got it?

Thanks.
looks like they took all the shoes by now…
You guys are crazy. This is a sculpture that looks like a store. It wasn’t real. There were never any clothes there.
There are currently shoes and bags there. They are not for sale, it is not a store. It is an art instillation.
A repro of the the Prada Marfa sign on GG is available @ http://worksonwhatever.com/ (I found it thru the GG website). And the Prada sculpture in Marfa was originally “stocked” with items from Prada’s 2005 collection, but these items were stolen soon after the installation
