Ideal body sizes for women (in the UK)

October 24, 2008 @ 10:32 am

Fabulous Magazine in the UK conducted a national survey where they asked men and women to describe their ideal body size. The differences were quite dramatic between the two genders with men leaning toward a more voluptuous body shape and women wanting a more stick-like figure. The image above pretty much sums it all up.

I wonder what this image would look like if the same survey was conducted in the US.

It’s too bad they’re all standing in different poses. It’s difficult to actually gauge the difference in size between the one on the left and the one on the right.

just an fyi: the equivalent US size is UK size minus 2. so in US sizes, the women are sizes 10, 6, 14 (L-R). i’m sure the national average in the US is different (probably higher?), but i’d like to see this survey done here.

I think that in the US the size women shoot for is a lot lower. I don’t know about the average, the reply that said it’s hight my be right, I think what men want though is still about the same even a little bigger baced on the men I know then what the UK was polled at.

What is interesting is that women are actually twice the size of their idea size. That explain a lot of the self distorted views some women have about their weight. And the men, smack dab in the middle.
