New Pepsi, Sierra Mist, and Mountain Dew logos

2008 October 24

More images of the horrid Pepsi logo redesign are beginning to pop up around the internet and the overall sense that I’m getting is that people don’t like it (see previous renderings here). I think the real kick in the nuts though is that Pepsi is redesigning ALL of their beverage logos and they all look terrible. Yes, it’s a cleaner design than what they currently have on the market, but the branding seems to convey more a sense of cheapness rather than elegant simplicity.

I dunno, it’s just really ugly (especially when it’s compared to the design of the other company’s branding).

Sierra Mist gives me a Sierra Migraine. I can’t think of a single famous logo that uses “blurry” as one of its key design features.

The can should be plain blue like above, but with the regular pepsi logo. That would look fairly sharp.

They are horrible. Seriously. Sierra Mist looks like a Spartan store rip off…. and the new Pepsi/Diet/Max logos look like a pro sports team (NBA, MLB, etc…). They just look really cheap and not very considered.

Yeah, those are pretty bad - I understand there seems to be a desire for a cleaner design, which I can appreciate, but the poor balance isn’t very helpful. And that red in dew being butt up against the green is an eye-sore.
