Madelyn Dunham’s vote will still be counted

So probably one of the bigger news stories to hit the wire today was the announcement of the death of Barack Obama’s grandmother, Madelyn Dunham. She was 86-years-old and only one day away from the official vote count that would determine whether or not he follows Bush into the White House.
But I believe the more fascinating story here is the one that confirms that her absentee ballot, cast before her death, will still be counted as an official vote towards Barack Obama. No laws are being bent and no special treatment is being given as the vote is valid under current election procedures in the state of Hawaii. That’s pretty darn awesome.
