The New York Times Obama newspaper reprint on sale now

November 10, 2008 @ 11:30 am

Right now, hundreds (if not thousands) of people are struggling to decide whether or not a newspaper that regularly costs $1.50 is worth paying $14.95 for.

That’s right, The New York Times is selling reprints of the historic Obama election newspaper (the whole reprint, not just the front page) for a whopping 1000% markup.

We were talking about this in my journalism class. Newspaper sales are on the decline, and in a way the election helped saved them. But the mark up is ridiculous.

No, what’s ridiculous is 400.00 an issue which is the highest I saw it go for on ebay! I’m contemplating a purchase of a bunch for 10.00 a piece…of course to resell. People will probably still buy them for 20.00 rather than wait for the backlog at the Times.
