The Eisenhower Interstate System (simplified)

The Eisenhower Interstate System (simplified) is an exercise in design that’s inspired by subway maps. It is created by Chris Yates and he is selling it as a poster print for $12.

I guess if the United States was laid out like a subway map, it would look something like this. It certainly is easier to decipher and look at when the roads are drawn this way rather than following the shape of individual states. The only problem of course is that this map doesn’t accurately show relative distance, which I believe is one of the main criticisms of the London Tube map.
