Ok, so you all probably remember the ShamWow infomercial I posted not too long ago and how the magic cloth was supposed to soak up massive amounts of water and hold it in without dripping. It’s abilities to absorb liquid much better than a standard paper towel intrigued me enough that at the end of watching that infomercial, I felt convinced that I needed to call the number and get one for myself. Thankfully, I didn’t, because that same night that I posted that video, I saw a similar product (by a different name) at Target for a fraction of the price.
Being skeptical of its abilities to mimic the ShamWow, I bought one for $5.99 at Target and immediately went home to try it out. The results were surprising and I can now say that I’m a firm believer in PVA cloths.
The AquaDry is a cloth made of PVA, a material that is super-absorbent, non-drip, and ultra-durable. It’s the exact same material that the ShamWow is made of and of course, plenty of PVA cloths exist out on the market. The cloth feels rubbery to the tough when it’s not completely dry and it really does hold water like a camel. I only have to wipe a wet spot once over to get all of the liquid absorbed into the AquaDry.
The best part is that the AquaDry seemed to be the cheapest choice at Target in terms of PVA cloths. There were at least 2 other varieties and companies available, but they were a bit more expensive for the exact same thing. My AquaDry cost $5.99 and you can pick one up at your local Target store.
I highly recommend this product not only because it’s something cool to show off and use, but because it actually does what it’s supposed to. BUY IT! This would be a great and funny Christmas present I think!
Here’s a quick demonstration video I recorded to show how the AquaDry works.

And just to drive the point a little further, this is pretty much what one AquaDry PVA cloth is equivalent to.
you should use that to soak up animal messes. it’d be a lot faster.
that would be a great light-weight but heavy-duty towel. ideal for traveling.
