2008 was a weird year in music for me because I branched out into a lot of new genres compared to my listening habits from previous years. The main reason for this shift in tastes is directly attributed to my experience living in Australia. I know I talk about it a lot, but it’s just the truth that Australia had a lot to do with my growth in the past year, and with that, my taste in music as well.
Anyway, this year I’m doing the culminating year-in-music post a bit different and just listing a bunch of albums that carried me through this year rather than giving stupid categories for each album. Like I say every year, these albums aren’t all necessarily released in 2008, but they were definitely added to my music collection in the past year and thus deserve to be recognized for their musical brilliance. In addition, a lot of these albums below remind me a lot about my time spent halfway around the world and for that I want to remember them for how they make me feel every time I hear it.
The list of albums below is in no specific order or ranking. I think they’re all great from beginning to end.
