1:200 scale model of World Trade Center donated 9/11 memorial & museum

City Room has an excellent set of photographs of a 1:200 scale model of the former World Trade Center complex that was recently donated to The National September 11 Memorial & Museum. The scale model was a gift from the American Architectural Foundation which exhibited the model at The Skyscraper Museum in 2004.

I think this is pretty neat and it’ll be wonderful to be able to see such a grand miniature of the former WTC towers. But God only knows when the city will complete the museum and memorial. What is it now…nearly 8 years since the 9/11 attacks and downtown is still a big hole? That’s ridiculous…

I think the model is nice. My question is what materials were used? I thought about making “N-Trak” modules and having the WTC on them. The size of N scale is a 1/160 proprtion so the one there is pritty close to the size of the trains. If I made it for the modules it would need to have three tracks in front but I would try to model them as being under the WTC. I remember going to the WTC for my class trip in 1995. that was fun.
