An inside look at a Netflix distribution center

Netflix announced yesterday that their 2008 Q4 earnings were $359.6 million and their subscriber-base had hit an all-time high of 9.4 million. That’s pretty impressive numbers considering the economic times we’re in, where every company seems to be reporting a loss. I guess in times of hardship, people just want to stay in and be lazy and watch movies and that’s certainly what’s been going on. I guess offering fantastic streaming services (for no additional cost to the subscriber) is a big plus too, and there’s word that Netflix is going to put even more money into streaming technology to make it even better and to enlarge the streaming selection too!

Of all the services I paid for in 2008, Netflix is definitely the #1 most recommended one of all, and I highly encourage you to get an account if you haven’t already.

Anyway, check out the video above of a Netflix distribution center taken from a report by King5 in Seattle, WA. It gives a good look at how Netflix pushes DVDs out the door and into your home in usually one business day. I found it fascinating that these people could stuff envelopes so quickly.
