London's dark rooms by Richard Nicholson

Photographic dark rooms are normally very dark places lit only by dim red lightbulbs in order to facilitate the process of developing images on paper. So it’s refreshing to see the work of Richard Nicholson who photographed a series of London’s remaining dark rooms on 4×5 film. As the world moves towards the digital medium, dark rooms everywhere (not just London) are facing the looming reality of closure. Richard’s photographs hope to enlighten and expose the beauty of the machinery inside these somewhat forgotten rooms and to establish a sense of nostalgia in the viewer for a place that is quickly diminishing.
