I don’t care how rich you are. If you don’t own the State Coach Britannia, you aren’t that rich.
The State Coach Britannia is a $800,000+ carriage with dedicated service for the Royal Family in Britain. The carriage may look old fashioned, but it is outfitted and adorned with some of the greatest luxuries available to vehicles on 4 wheels. In fact, some of the items it comes with are irreplaceable and priceless artifacts from British history. [via]
Officials say that the carriage is a traveling time capsule. Inside are pieces of an aircraft bomber, metal from the musket used at the Battle of Waterloo, and wood dating back nearly 4000 years to the Victory which represents the Royal Navy. Inside the carriage are four 55-pound lamps covered in unique crystals and each of the door handles are decorated in 24 diamonds and 130 sapphires.
And the expensive accessories don’t just end there. Even the interior is upholstered in fine silk. In total, all of these extravagant decorations make the carriage an astonishing 2.75 tons (and measuring in at 20 feet long and 11 feet high).
If you’re wondering where this all comes from, you can thank the Australian government for sending this overseas as a gift. The State Coach Britannia is even created by a local Australian, Jim Frecklington. In the coming weeks, the State Coach will travel from Sydney to the Buckingham Palace and the BBC is reportedly following it with cameras for a future segment.
