How to get TwitPic working with TwitterBerry

twitpic-on-blackberry

A lot of people (inlcuding myself) have had lots of problems getting images to upload to TwitPic using the dedicated BlackBerry Twitter client, TwitterBerry. For the longest time now, I’ve just sort of given up on uploading my images to TwitPic and sharing them because I just couldn’t get them to work together. And with no official word of a fix from the developers, the outlook looked pretty grim for those of us wanting to upload to TwitPic using our BlackBerry devices.

Well, after doing quite a bit of research (and I do mean a whole lot), I’ve finally found a solution to the stupid problem.

To get your images to upload to TwitPic using TwitterBerry, all you have to do is change your connection setting from AUTO to TCP. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open TwitterBerry
  2. Click Menu and then go to ‘Configure’
  3. Change the option for ‘Connection Mode’ to TCP
  4. Save changes

That should fix it! I’m having absolutely no problem now uploading pictures to TwitPic. FINALLY!

  1. Wow, that definitely solved my problem. Thanks for this–it was an absolute pain trying to figure out how to get this to work, but evidently the fix was incredibly simple!

  2. Fawnita says:

    Thank you!

  3. Paula says:

Thank you so much for this! I was just searching around to see if I was the only one having problems uploading pictures via TwitterBerry – this did the trick!

  4. I tried exactly what you suggested, but am still unsure how to send pictures to twitpic via twitterberry, should there be an option in the menu now? I’m working from a bold

    • Paula says:

Chris – You pull up the picture in your media folder, hit the menu button and select “Send to TwitterBerry.” From there, TwitterBerry should launch and show the picture is attached on the update screen. Add some text if desired and update as usual.

  5. brian says:

thanks for trying to solve this, but it’s still not working on my Curve. the TCP option doesn’t establish a connection when tested, only BIBS works for me. i’m on T-Mobile.

  6. teresa says:

i’m having the same problem as brian.. havent tried BIBS, only using the auto detect. i’m on o2 :( please help x

  7. rvansick says:

Ditto with Brian, I also have T-Mobile and I’m using a Pearl. The TCP mode doesn’t allow me to connect to twitter at all. Any other solutions that people know? The email option does work, but I like the sound of the “Send to Twitpic” option.

    Thanks Gang!!

  8. Martyn says:

Heads up that if your using o2 with blackberry unlimited bolt on and put in the apn info to use tcp then you might get charged for uploading photos.

Basically using the bb browser is free with bb unlimited but using tcp is not (it uses mobile.o2.co.uk or something). I got ‘stung’ with extra £8 on my contract due to uploading photos to twitpic.

  9. Teresa says:

Hi Martyn, I’m with o2 and asked for the blackberry bolt on which I was told was an extra £7.50 or something a month on top of my contract.. Also, my email address is o2email.co.uk – so does that mean I’d get charged for uploading pictures onto twitpic?

My connection is set as auto detect but I email the pictures to twitpic from my bb curve..

  10. Rasya says:

Hi there, i just installed twitterberry and trying to upload a pic. i already changed the connection to TCP, and it’s been a while now it keeps showing me “sending your image to twitpic”. i think it went hang. what should i do?? why can it works for me.
oh btw i’m using curve 9000.
    thanks..

  11. Sara says:

I have a Blackberry Curve with Verizon and just changed my settings to TCP and it worked! Took a little while for the ‘send to twitter’ option to come up in the menu but after a couple minutes it came up as an option.

Odd though cause it used to do this regardless and then one day just stopped all on it’s own… who knows why but this appears to have fixed the problem…

  12. now it’s telling me I have the wrong user name/password and I can’t find where to see what it’s showing.
    I’m so frustrated

  13. Megan says:

Thanks so much for this! I was having the same problem. I would send to TwitterBerry, and it would say “Sending to TwitPic”, but nothing would happen. It would just hang there. But I just changed the setting like you said, and it’s working! I’m on a Curve, too. With Sprint.

  14. Kat says:

I’ve tried EVERY setting: Auto-Detect, BES, BIBS and TCP..NONE of them work. It just keeps saying “Sending your Imagine to TwitPic” but does NOTHING else. I’m now wondering if another program similar to Twitterberry will work better…

  15. Kat says:

WAIT….JUST WORKED on TCP…tooks about 2 minutes though! Guess I just needed to be patient!

  16. Em says:

I have a Curve with sprint and I downloaded TwitterBerry and it seems to be working just fine… however, when I go into the media folder and find the picture I want to upload I don’t see the option to “send using TwitterBerry” I see all the other options just not that one…. Is there something that I forgot to do with installing the program on my phone? Thanks.

  17. JB McDaniel says:

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! You should put a donate button on here. This is top notch info!

  18. Steve says:

Im using a Bold on Orange UK and I just get a message saying cannot connect to Twitter when using the TCP setting.

  19. Steve says:

I have also tried auto detect and when I tried to send to Twitterberry it said, File type of REM is not supported.

  20. amy says:

I have a cruve 8330 from sprint and “send from twiterberry” is not coming up as an option I did change to TCP as suggested

    • zach says:

go on the the media then onto pictures and you should be in you album and see all of your pictures. then click onto the picture so its like on full sceen and it th onli 1 u can see..next click the blackberry button and send to twitterberry should be at the top :) this worked for me as i had been trying to send ot from the album or whatever u want to call it

  21. Mel says:

I also have the sprint curve and when I switched to TCP and tried uploading my pic it does the same thing..starts to download, gets to like 16 % and then just stalls. What’s the deal?

  22. k says:

Finally got it to work I have a curve 8330 via verizon after weeks of trying and I changed my twitter name so people could find me better and now it doesn’t work again and I did everything I did before kinda fed up with twitterberry

  31. Rod Albin says:

ATT and Bold 9000. Same problem as the TACTICAL NUKE. Username and Password not valid, even though worked great for about 30 days.

    Hellpp

    • Rod Albin says:

Thanks to Joan, I realized i had my email address instead of my
Twitter username. Once this was changed, all was well.

  35. jonathan says:

This doesn’t work for me. I’m on Orange in the UK, i’ve put in “internetvpn” as my APN as told to me by the guys on their business support phone line.

Twitterberry won’t connect via TCP, I have to keep it on Auto or BIBS, which then means no TwitPic. I am guesing that the majority of users here are in the States? Anyone else having this issue in the UK with Orange???

    Driving me nutz!

    • abi says:

Hi i have the same problem i am on orange bold, have you sorted it yet?

    • zach says:

hey im on orange and in the uk and it wouldnt work for me…but i put it back onto auto…then go on to media-pictures-then the folder wher the picture is -click on the picture-it should be full screen?-then click the blackberry button and send to twitterberry should be at the top :)

  36. Jason says:

Has anyone been able to get this to work with T-Mobile?

  37. jillian says:
