The Parks Department and Rogers Marvel Architects say that the current empty space at McCarren Pool will be outfitted with new pipes and filled with water in time for people to use the pool in 2 years. The pool is reportedly able to hold up to 2500 people at once. That’s…worse than a beach.

I’m gonna go ahead now and say that that 2 year projection looks insanely optimistic. Two years? Really? I know there isn’t that much work to do since they don’t really have to change a lot to the existing space, but I’d tack on an extra year to adjust for snags, delays, and mangerial red tape from all parties involved.
