Today marks Oregon’s 150th birthday and Flickr is celebrating by announcing that they’ve just added the Oregon State University Archives to Flickr Commons. As you might expect, the photos in this collection show the early days of Oregon’s beginnings. But the wonderful part about this is that the scans of the archives are a lot larger than most of the other photos in Flickr Commons. So if you really wanted to get a close-up of people’s faces in each photo, you could and it’s all free to access.
According to OSU, the image above was scanned with an Epson 1640XL scanner at 600 dpi at 8-bit gray scale and it’s safe to assume that the rest of the images are scanned in the same way.
