This is truly a fantastic album. I’ve never really been a fan of Yeah Yeah Yeahs before this despite the band having huge success since their single “Maps” came out. The band’s music always seemed a bit on the whiny and sleepy side to me, but ever since I heard the first single off of their new album, I’ve been persuaded to give the band another try.
And I’m glad I did, because I’m pretty confident that this is going to be one of the better albums I hear this year. It’s nothing like what I remember the band sounding like, which may be a bad thing to some and good thing to others (definitely good to me). Their electronic-rock energy certainly carries through the entire album from beginning to end and I’m a new fan because of it!
You have to listen to “Zero”, “Heads Will Roll”, “Soft Shock”, and “Hysteric”.
It’s Blitz comes out April 14 (US) but the album was leaked early and you can hear it now if you want to get a taste.
