I just finished watching the first new Late Night show with Jimmy Fallon (Late Night With Jimmy Fallon) and it was seriously one of the hardest shows to get through.
Jimmy Fallon is awkward as it is which makes him an awesome skit actor (think SNL), but man he is a terrible talk show host. I assume some parts of his interaction with Robert De Niro in the show were scripted to make De Niro seem disinterested, but you could REALLY see his boredom kick in when he was booted to the second chair as Justin Timberlake took the reins.
I don’t want to ruin the show for those who haven’t seen it as there were some good parts, like whenever The Roots houseband played their music. But that was about it. The rest of the show in my opinion was pretty boring. And if Jimmy and his producers don’t change something soon, I don’t see a very bright future for this show.
Honestly, I’m still wondering how Jimmy Fallon even got picked to be the successor to Conan O’Brien. Kinda random if you ask me.

Conan came from SNL and a relationship with Lorne Michaels, as did Jimmy. I think it’ll find a groove, Conan was awkward too.
I just want to see Jimmy Fallon in skits where he laughs too much.
I agree,
I have watched the 1st two shows, with the 2nd one worst than the 1st .
One thing that really disappoints me about this show is that one of the writer’s used to write for G4,s Attack of The Show. I stopped watching that show because the skits, and jokes were getting ridiculously stupid. That used to be one of my favorite shows until it became unbearable to watch. Now I am seeing the same crap on Jimmy Fallon’s show. An example is when they had people licking stuff. The hosts on Attack of The Show did that, the popular video of the day they did on the 2nd show, where they had someone dress up like someone in the video, was also the same crap that drove me away from the other show.
Jimmy if you are reading this, SAVE YOUR SHOW, GET RID OF THAT WRITER!
Personally, anything is better than Last Call with Carson Daly. That show is just garbage.
It’s a couple of weeks after the original post now, Fallon is still pretty awkward. I don’t watch these shows much past the monologues, but the other night Russell Brand was on so I gave it a go.
Fallon was pretty bad, came off like a groupie, made Brand do most of the work. Brand was promoting his _Bookie Wook_, so he had been on Letterman the night before. You can tell Letterman really likes Brand as a comedian, on a professional level, and he plays the straight man to feed Brand material because he knows how Brand’s shtick works. So whenever Brand is on Letterman, it’s a great interview, runs smoothly, and is fun to watch.
But Fallon was like, “Oh you’re so funny, and I can’t believe I have such a funny and famous guy on my show!” Brand seemed frustrated and a little pissed off at first, but after a while he figured out what was going on and tried to make the best of it.
Maybe after while Fallon will have seen enough famous people that he won’t go all gushy on them.
