Whoa, the European Academy Bozen/Bolzano (EURAC) has put an amazing project of photographing Otzi the Iceman online for anybody to view. The project involved shooting Otzi at 12 different angles at incredibly high resolution and putting the images onto a navigation that resembles Google Maps. The photographs of Otzi are so hi-res that you can literally zoom in to millimetric detail of the skin. Honestly, it’s coming a bit too close to a dead body, but the opportunity to see detail is amazing. It really feels like you’re right in front of it.
Because Otzi was found frozen and preserved inside a glacier, the process in photographing the remains had to be very precise. Using a large-format camera with a digital back, the research team took about 800 images in freezing -6 degrees Celsius temperature (to ensure the body remained preserved in its state). [via]
Gross. Not sure why you chose such a graphic photo for this post.
