Jeremiah’s Vanishing New York reports that 61 5th Ave is completely gone! The former building housed a deli before a fire in 2006 damaged it beyond repair. I remember people talking at the time about how they thought the owner of the building started the fire to collect insurance money. I have no idea how true that claim is, but I haven’t really heard an alternative.
I don’t go to school for one week and this happens!
