A photo under the Coney Island boardwalk

I made it underneath the Coney Island boardwalk yesterday. It’s a magical place! You can hear the conversations up above and the streaming sunlight through the slits in the wood is amazing.

Most of the area is walkable standing upright, but there are some sections where the sand piles up so high that you have to crouch just to get by. The opening to get in is right in front of the big mural along the boardwalk.

Mind you, it’s still trespassing if you go in, so be smart and alert, and don’t get yourself caught.

awesome! can’t wait to check this out.

on a similar note, i noticed you’ve been on an exploring kick as of late. you should check out the old world’s fairgrounds at flushing meadows. you can scale the fence and climb up halfway through one of the old towers. the stairs are a bit rickety (and some are missing in some places) but that’s half the fun!
