Earth Hour 2009

earth-hour

Started in 2007 by World Wildlife Fund in Australia, Earth Hour is an international event that encourages people all over the world to shut off their lights for one hour to make a statement against global warming.

Last year, Earth Hour successfully got about 50 million people to turn off their lights and this year, the organization is hoping to up that number to about 1 billion.

So tonight, in whatever time zone you are in, join the symbolic movement by reducing energy consumption between 8:30PM and 9:30PM.

The movie below for Earth Hour 2009 shows some of Australia’s neat little light switches that I miss so much.
