Digital Tools just posted about the newest musical project from Andre Michelle called the ToneMatrix. The ToneMatrix is an incredibly simple audio sequencer that makes use of illuminating squares and the result is even more addicting to play with than the Hobnox Audiotool which Andre also created a few years ago.
Each square on the ToneMatrix is connected to a specific tone which plays when the underlying wave-map passes by it. There is a sense of immense satisfaction when I hear my melody played out on the light-up grid. It’s magical almost and makes me wish I owned an instrument like this just so I can continue creating music even when I’m away from the computer.
The ToneMatrix certainly deserves a place in my bookmarks right next to the keyboard drum set.
I think you’d like the Korg DS-10 then: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KORG_DS-10
It’s 4:30 AM and I’m still playing this….eff.
