Melbourne is a beautiful place

As weird as this sounds, it’s true: I’ve officially lived in Australia longer than I ever have at the “new” apartment in Manhattan. When I left my brothers’ apartment in Manhattan, I had only been there for 6 months, and now I am nearing the completion of my 10th month here in Australia. It’s amazing to think that so much time has passed already and yet I still have so many things to see and do in Melbourne. Two more months and I’m out of Melbourne and back on US soil. I think it’s safe to say that I’ve grown attached to Melbourne.

In the past 10 months, I’ve met so many people from so many different parts of the world.

I wrote the words in blockquotes above exactly a year ago.

In fact, this post has been sitting in my drafts folder since April 14, 2008 and I’m just deciding to publish it now because I really don’t think I can add anything else to it.

I never published it when I originally wrote it because I couldn’t finish the post in the exact tone that I wanted. It always felt so incomplete and every time I edited it, it seemed to get further and further away from how I wanted to accurately describe my experience in Melbourne.

So here is the original post, published exactly a year later, and still echoing the extreme attachment I have with Melbourne despite being back “home” since July 2008.

I want to reblog this on Tumblr, but I’m afraid someone might reblog and remove credit :( so I will refrain.
