This does not look like a valuable use of executive time. But everyone has to choose their furniture, including the President of the United States.
In the end President Obama left much of the Oval Office unchanged, including the Resolute Desk (which was a present from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880 and has been used by every USA President ever since), the beautiful carpet that was picked by Mrs Bush, and the CONCORDE Presidential luxury swivel chair that was presented to President George W. Bush by Global Group of Canada.
The CONCORDE Presidential is the large black plush chair. See more pictures of President Obama in the CONCORDE Presidential chair on Chellgrove’s blog here: http://chellgrove.wordpress.com/2009/03/01/president-obamas-oval-office-chair/.
what office chair did President Obama choose?
The red one… I’d have picked the brown one as looks most presidential. Though, the Gunlocke ‘Washington’ used by Kennedy and Ford really does look the part and is quality US built and very very comfortable! Note, the first years of Nixon’s presidency he used a very ergonomic chair of the time.. Carter also used this chair and at the very start Regan did too.. sorry I fail to remember the maker. Obama’s choice looks elegant but not a chair you’d want to sit in for hours at a time.
