Hardware Highlight: The Microsoft Zune HD

The newly announced Zune HD is a work of art. I think it’s a rather beautiful mix of a retro metallic body and state-of-the-art portable technology in one device. It doesn’t really offer anything substantially new (although it does have touchscreen, HD Radio, HD video out, Wi-Fi, and web browser) which is why I’m only concerned about how it looks. And to that end, it looks really good. REALLY GOOD.

The biggest competitor obviously would be the iPod touch. And for what it’s worth, I think the Zune HD is both a better looking device and a better feature-packed unit. Yum! I want to touch it.

the “assembled in china” bugs me a lot…but other than that, it looks fantastic!

That phrase (or something like it with a different country) appears on just about every single electronic device I own. I think it’s something pretty easy to ignore now.

i’m getting one. i’ve been waiting for portable hd radio for years. fm radio is terrible through nice earphones.

everything is assembled in china….or taiwan.

Wow, it does look good. The simple sleekness and exposed screws reminds me of Cartier Love bracelets and rings.
