When Microsoft’s new search engine Bing was unveiled this week the thing that I noticed immediately was the oddly stretched logo type. It bothered me because it looked completely off and amateur. Well, Brand New took it upon themselves to guess what the typeface might have looked like before the MS art department stretched it beyond proportion. There ya go. I don’t understand how this could have squeezed through the art department at Microsoft. Surely they have one, don’t they?

the whole site is ugly. and i miss using regular good ol’ Farecast.
The name just makes me think of Chandler, not a search engine…
looks like ogio.
I never thought I’d prefer the Google logo to anything, but there is nothing less attractive than vertical or horizontal distortion. It’s really hard to make Google look good, but Bing has done it. Perhaps their first and only achievement.
