Today marks the 20th anniversary of the protests in Tiananmen Square in China. The New York Times has an audio-slideshow from Nicholas D. Kristof, an Op-Ed columnist who was Beijing bureau chief for The Times in the spring of 1989, in which he recalls the city’s mood during the student protests leading up to June 4, 1989. Nicholas gives a pretty solid history on the events that led up to the major protest in Tiananmen Square so if you get some time you should definitely sit through and listen to the whole audio-slideshow.
