
I’ve posted about the photos of abandoned Detroit from Yves Marchand & Romain Meffre previously but I had no idea that the two of them also ventured to Germany to document the industrial decay going on there as well.
In their series, Eastern Industries, Yves and Romain offer a glimpse of Germany unlike those seen in travel brochures and guide books. It seems as if Germany is home to a good number of abandoned industrial factories that are not only enormous in size but also built with extravagant architectural design as well. I should keep this list of German ruins in mind when I visit in the future.
I am from eastern Germany and there are many abandoned places like this… Many were abandoned, when the Russians withdraw… sad thing is, that they took much of the technical equipment with them, leaving many people in this region unemployed for years… And even now its hard to settle some companies there..
