Has anybody else been experiencing major problems with the latest version of Firefox?
The latest version doesn’t seem to handle itself as well as the previous version and that means that at any point in time, the Firefox browser will become sluggish, slow-to-respond, or stop working altogether forcing me to do a Force Quit on the application.
I’ve been trying to pinpoint the exact cause (whether it’s a website I’m visiting or a script that’s running somewhere or possibly one of my add-ons), but so far it just seems like Firefox does a terrible job of staying afloat after a certain number of tabs. This was never the case before with previous versions of the browser.
Could be a major memory leak. But in any case it’s a big enough problem that I’ll sacrifice the headache for now and start using Safari until the next version of Firefox comes out (or until Chrome for the Mac gets a solid release).

i did get the same issues when the firefox 3.5 update was released. then i kept updating with patches from mozilla. not experiencing the problem anymore.
Where can I get these patches? Do you mean the nightly builds?
Ughh, my Firefox acted up a lot too. It either stopped responding, or it just shut down altogether. Restarting it didn’t help either. I did a few things on here, though http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/the-ultimate-guide-to-speeding-up-firefox-3-5/ and it helped a lot.
Oh yeah, and it happens a lot when I use iGoogle. I’ve started using a blank homepage now.
firefox is old hat. chrome = new hotness.
yeah it started for me a couple days ago. at first I thought it was some updated extensions, but I disabled them. it seems to be happening when I goto google reader . . .
Use Flock! It rarely crashes and is so much better for social browsing and runs on the same engine as Firefox so most of the addons work perfect with it! It’s very seamless and has a pretty cool interface.

Not happening to me. I’m running a Windows, though.
