Shwood Candby wooden sunglasses

A company based in Portland, Oregon is manufacturing these wooden sunglasses frames made from maple, zebrawood, or wenge wood. Each pair comes with Carl Zeiss polarized lenses in either grey or brown. I would love to see one in person and feel how much they weigh, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen any time soon.

How much is it to wear rare woods on your face? Oh, about $95.

Wooden frames are actually pretty light, but for sunglasses you’ll have to see what material the lenses are made of. Obviously, glass would be the heaviest but provides the best optics. Wooden frames are also non-adjustable, so these sunglasses have a very limited market. …and I work at an optical, so I know what I’m talking about :) Love your blog!
